For bilingual children – FLAM curriculum (Français Langue Maternelle)
These classes are aimed at children who are fluent enough to express themselves confidently and understand a native speaker. The aim of these classes is to consolidate oral and written French; we follow the French national curriculum and preparation for the DELF (a diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to prove the French-language skills of non-French candidates) is available upon request. When joining, your child will be evaluated to ensure that this class suits their needs.
Les Petits (children aged 4 – 5) Tuesday 3:30 – 5:00 pm
Children are immersed in a world of creativity, craft and play. Each Petit Atelier regularly features songs, puppet shows, stories and craft activities as well as traditional French games. Initiation to reading and writing in French.
Les Moyens (children aged 6+) Thursday 3:30 – 5:00 pm
Children will learn how to read and write in French through a gentle, but effective, approach. Each Petit Atelier will feature lots of oral practice, games, reading and writing, with links to the French national programme.
Several levels possible within one class with each individual student’s needs catered for.
For non-bilingual children: FLE (French as a foreign language)
Les Petits (children aged 4-5) Wednesday 3:30 – 5:00 pm
These classes are aimed at children aged 5 and above who wish to learn French as a foreign language or may already have some knowledge of the language but are not fluent enough to attend the other class.
In this weekly class, just like in classes for bilinguals, children are immersed in a world of creativity, craft and play, with French being the main language used by the teacher. Each Atelier regularly features puppet shows, story-telling, role-playing, songs, rhymes, games and crafts. No prior knowledge of French necessary.
